Conventions of a film opening.
  • Title of the film, not right at the beginning but about one minute in.
  • Sense of the pace of the film
  • Director and casts names.
  • Music; often sets the mood and tone
  • Institutional logo for production
  • Location & setting
  • Diegetic and non diegetic
  • Establishing shot
  • Long shot
  • Close shot
classic opening includes an establishing shot of the city scape. Then we are introduced to the building from a high angle shot. We see a long shot of the window and close ups into the room where we meet the characters.
