Health and safety

In the health and safety tutorial, we were introduced to the basics of using a camera. This included the correct way to insert a memory card. We were told if the card read locked, we were to take the memory card out and slide up the lock on the side. Also we were taught the correct way to insert the battery and how to set up a tripod. It was important that the tripod was stable and straight as if it was slightly uneven it would affect filming. When the camera is placed on the tripod, it is important to check it is securely fitted otherwise you risk the camera falling off the tripod.

After this we looked at different shot types and advised not to manually zoom during filming as it doesn’t look good in the finishing product. When we need to save our work, we need to transfer our footage onto a hard drive    as this was the only way we wouldn’t lose our work.

We were warned about the responsibilities we have with the camera’s and if anything is lost or stolen we would be held responsible. When borrowing equipment it is also important to give it back on time as others may need access to it.
